Scots Gold Black Blended Scotch Whisky

Patiently matured to achieve a smooth, rounded taste. This is a well-balanced, classic blended scotch whisky that will not disappoint. With a slightly higher malt content than the Scots Gold Red, the Black according to No Nonsense Whisky has "a slightly less minty nose and allows more of the vanillas and fudges through. The palate is also refined, bringing some honey into into the mix. A smooth drinking experience".

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet vanilla toffee with a pleasing spicy influence.

Palate: Creamy and warming, fruity with butterscotch.

Finish: Long and complex.

Suggested Serve

A cheeky chappy of a whisky, shooting well above its weight. Assertive without being aggressive, soft and rounded without being bland, and not a dud note in sight. An excellent youngster more than capable of holding its own with the bigger boys.

The nose presents pencil shavings, finely tuned aromatic spices, vanilla toffee, peppercorn, clove, and milk chocolate caramels. The palate opens with quick flashes of lime, followed by vanilla, toffee, citrus-tinged sweetness, and clamorous peppery spices, then becomes more malty, and slackens into flavors of butterscotch, ice cream cone, and ground nuts. Lingering malty sweetness on the finish with hints of blackened oak, though the spices have the final word. A satisfying pour.
