As described by No Nonsense Whisky: "In the Scots Gold 12 Year Old the age shines through and brings a relaxed and gentle experience. Citrus and tannins on the nose with a background of orchard fruits. The palate has butterscotch, more apples and pears, and a gentle pepperiness." 

Tasting Notes

Nose: Tangy orange and oak. Freshly cut wood, traces of grapefruit.

Palate: Soft coee candy, chocolate, caramel, traces of oak, buttered toast, and vanilla. A gentle late arrival of spice.

Finish: Medium, honeyed, traces of oak and lingering spice.

A mixture of butter toffee, vanilla, dried fruit, Oreo cookies, candied peel, fennel seed, and white pepper on the nose. The palate shows vanilla toffee, blackened oak, macaroon bars, rich malt, and robust peppercorn spiciness. Yes, it's full-bodied and satisfyingly malty, bathing the tongue in deliciously smooth toffee flavors with blackened staves and plenty of spice on the finish, but it's a bit too straightforward. Vanilla in more ways than one.
